Its summer and it’s hot! I mean last week we broke a record here in Kalispell reaching 95 degrees – in June! Last time we came even close to that was almost a hundred years ago. So what do we do in the heat? We cool off – in the lake of course. But – why not cool off in your own private paradise? Bring the water and the fun home and enjoy your house almost as much as you enjoy being on the lake. I did say “almost.”
In the summer, decorate your rooms with cool colors to beat the heat. Paint your walls in cool blues, relaxing greens, and vibrant purples to bring the outdoors in. Make a space that reminds you of the cool breeze off the lake. A place that you want to come home to for a relaxing evening after a day in the sun.
The key to using cool colors in any room is often in the tints and variations of the color. By using differing shades and hues of a color scheme you can bring depth, balance and a cohesive look to any space. For instance, douse your walls in a sage green color and accent with pops of kelly green by bringing in ferns and house plants. And always keep in mind that too much of one color in a room can make the room feel small and over bearing – too much of good thing may just not be a good thing.
If inspired by blues, pair it with creams and whites. Greens meld beautifully with tans and browns and purples really pop with differing grays.
See the slideshow for some ideas we love. But come see us, we have more inspiration in our own showroom!
