Acacia Haze – February Color Pick of the Month
It is official! We have been pounded by snow this year in the Flathead. It seems that every time we start to dig out, we get hit again. And for us original warm east coasters, we embrace the cold and bare through the freezing temps to get outside, but we happily retreat to our warm, cozy bungalow for some much needed heat. And particularly at this time of year, we get inspired by all things green, all things with a hint of the glorious spring we know is coming. That is why right now, we are inspired by the Sherwin-Williams February Color of the Month. A far cry from the vibrant purple haze announced as the 2018 Color of the Year (read our post on that color here), Acacia Haze is a muted green with warm undertones of brown and tan. A perfect hue for the winter retreat out of the cold that many of us seek.
Love the warm, serene color as much as we do? Read on for some quick inspiration ideas on how to incorporate it into your own home.
Color Combinations
With the warm brown undertone, Acacia Haze works well with most neutral color palettes. Try pairing the green with subtle whites and rustic greys for a farmhouse or modern design. For a more rustic or spa encouraged style, combine Acacia Haze with taupes and deep browns. For the color inspired, try pairing it with a woven cream and a rustic, terracotta or Spanish style orange with red undertones. The hue even pairs nicely with soft blues or pastel pinks and yellows.
Room Designs
With its calming tendencies, this sage hue is an obvious choice for a bedroom or bathroom design. Create a spa inspired and tranquil bathroom with bamboo furniture, luxurious white towels, this hue on the walls and candles in every corner. For the bedroom, splash your favorite palette on the walls and create a glowing effect with mood lighting and comfortable bed linens. Deep grays play nicely against the sage green in an open and airy bedroom design. Acacia Haze is also a stunning color in a laundry room or an office and can be an exhilarating color in an entry or living room. This hushed green will even be incredibly stunning in a farmhouse kitchen with all white cabinets or a mountain retreat with dark or natural wood cabinetry against a neutral back splash.
Accessorize with It
Not as inclined to go big and paint a wall or an entire room with the hue? Start small to incorporate the green tone into your current designs. Accessorize a night stand, buffet or the dining room table centerpiece with an odd number of succulent dressed planters and lanterns. Easy to care for and easy to work with, these plants will give you the muted green all year long even when we are waist deep in snow. Other ways to incorporate it are to do so in your kitchen linens or by decorating with green glass bottles as your flower vases. Or, pair with bright colored artwork as shown below for a design that will never be boring. You can even take to putting it underfoot with a large, decorative area rug.
If you love the color as much as we do, think about your upholstered furniture pieces and if you are ready for an update. Acacia Haze is a stunning hue for a dining room set or accent chairs in the living room and any sofa or bed will be transformed with a simple addition of the sage green hue in its throw pillows and blankets. Because it is a versatile, restful shade, Acacia Haze will work well in nearly any room design and can be accessorized with in nearly any fashion.
Whether you choose to incorporate the February Color of the month in a big way or subtle addition, Acacia Haze is sure to help calm your mood and elevate your spirits this winter. Spring will be here before we know it and with a pop of this green, your home will already be ready for the season’s change.
